The Kenora Association for Community Living began an inclusive, accessible community garden at its Arts Hub location (3rd St. South, Kenora) in the years just prior to the inception of the CGRF. \u00a0In 2011, plans took shape for an expanded garden, and in 2012 the new community accessible garden was built.<\/p>\n
The CGRF has supported KACL\u2019s garden project through a community partnership grant that enabled the organization to host a comprehensive series of gardening workshops. \u00a0Included in the KACL gardening series were an early spring workshop to help plan the garden, a medicine walk with Mohawk elder Jan Longboat in June, and a number of sessions on various gardening tips and techniques throughout the summer. \u00a0The Arts Hub staff also hosted workshops on canning, seed saving, and storing the harvest. \u00a0The series wrapped up with a harvest potluck in September.![\"\"](\"http:\/\/cgrf.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Medicine-walk-poster-791x1024.jpg\"){kind=spacer}

The CGRF has also committed to assisting KACL grow their community accessible garden by providing a summer research intern, Rob Moquin, who continued his work with the KACL Community Accessible Garden through his Masters research with the CGRF, and through the research contributions of Dr. Alan Diduck.<\/p>\n
Dr. Diduck and Rob Moquin presented the results of this project at the Canadian Association of Geographers’ meeting in 2013 through a handout and a poster, available below.<\/p>\n
