In early 2010, the Kenora Urban Trails Committee, an ad hoc committee of the City of Kenora, requested support from the CGRF in the form of a student researcher. \u00a0The Urban Trails Committee was looking to enhance the cross-cultural inclusivity and sensitivity of its current and future urban trail maintenance and development within the City of Kenora. \u00a0They requested a student researcher to conduct a literature review around cross-cultural trails development and to provide some recommendations as to how they might best conduct future trails development to maximize cultural awareness and sensitivity.<\/p>\n

The CGRF hired summer research student, Denae Penner, an undergraduate in the Environmental Studies program at the University of Winnipeg, to work with Dr Diduck in conducting this literature review. \u00a0Denae reviewed numerous models for cross-cultural trails development from regions throughout North America, and prepared two reports that are available here:<\/p>\n
